If there's another thread on this feel free to lock/merge.

Has anyone else noticed problems using secure websites over meteor's internet recently? I've found that I keep getting "page cannot be displayed" errors and I have to refresh the page four or five times to get it to work. It can be impossible to log into my online banking because the login request fails and when I refresh the page the process restarts

And sometimes when the pages do load only half the page loads, i.e. the background is white (where it's not normally) and the layout doesn't look right

It seems to be a general problem with https because it happens with multiple websites and apps that use secure connections and it never seems to happen with non secure websites. Also the problem never happens over wifi and I put a vodafone sim card in my phone for a while and it didn't happen then either so I don't think it's a problem with my phone. I've seen the same problem on two other phones but they were both Samsung Galaxy S's so I'd like to hear if anyone with another model is having these problems

Wonder if it may be related to this thread Sam ?

Haven't noticed any specific https issues on my mobile SIM but I do have the symptoms above.

Use a Meteor broadband SIM at home with no issues accessing https

Some of that sounds similar where people are saying they have to retry multiple times but I wouldn't say the problem with the weather widget is related because I would doubt that the widget uses https and I only see the problem over https. Hopefully they'll figure it out now that a few people have reported it

I'm having similar issues. I cannot log into Banking 365 for example, or even the secure section of Meteor's own website.

    What phone do you have?

iPhone 4S, but up to last week I had an HTC Desire HD which was driving me mad with the facebook app having issues connecting. I thought it was the phone but now looks more likely to be Meteor network issues.

Good to see that other types of handsets are having problems. I was worried it could be a Samsung Galaxy problem. I'll keep at them anyway until they fix it.

I thought my N8 was having a problem too, can't log into 365 Online anymore. Just keep being given a 'Session Timeout' error, I thought it was something to do with Cookies or something. I also get an error on Facebook via Opera Mobile - 'connection closed by remote server'

Lots and lots of "Cannot load page" the last two days - very annoying.
Also Google Music has stopped working.

I've found that it doesn't seem to happen with opera mini, probably because om sends its requests through a proxy and downloads pages differently to other browsers. So now I'm just down to any app that makes a secure connection not working

Edit: that's only opera mini btw. Opera mobile doesn't work through a proxy or send these modified requests so it has the same problem as any other browser

Have Meteor acknowledged the problem yet?

Have Meteor acknowledged the problem yet?

Kind of. The people I've been talking to have acknowledged that there's a problem but the "technical team" won't

Have you called them about it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 289 ✭✭musiknonstop

I have not made an official call to customer support yet. I have only had contact via their Twitter account, @Meteor_Mobile.

Could you call them about it? As long as there's only one person calling they can keep dismissing the issue

    I'll call them later too.

I logged a call but to be honest it was not handled very satisfactorily.

It was told Meteor do not block any websites and i should contact HTC customer support, and then Apple customer support when I corrected him re the phone I'm using now.

These websites usually load after the 5th or 6th attempt and the problem happens with their own website so we know that this is nothing to do with blocking websites

And as we know this is happening to multiple people with multiple devices and multiple websites and apps so telling you to contact one of the five manufacturers whose phones I've seen this problem on really is fobbing you off. It's almost as bad as the one who told me that I should send all five (at the time) phones I'd seen the problem on for repair

If I were you I'd call back and wouldn't take a fob off for an answer

I've ordered a free Meteor sim, and will test that on the HTC. For the iPhone, I'll go to a Meteor store and have them check if they can access their own website with one of the stores own iPhones.

Meteor stores can be very busy though, so could take a few days.

I already went to a store and talked to someone who understandably didn't know anything about the problem or how to solve it, it's not their job to know this kind of stuff. She called the same technical team who keep fobbing me off when I call customer care and they once again fobbed me off. Hopefully you'll be more successful.

If you have two phones I'd suggest that you bring them both to show that it's happening on both, in case they won't use one of the store's phones

Looks like it was also a problem in April. http://forums.meteor.ie/index.php?showtopic=1805

Yeah I saw that. This issue could well have been going on since then and I just put it down to dodgy coverage.

Is this still happening to other people? I've been trying https stuff all day and it's been fine

  • Registered Users Posts: 289 ✭✭musiknonstop

Yes, working for me on Friday evening (the last time I checked!). Now if they'd fix the weather app and my problem with m.youtube.com I'd be very happy.

I know what must have happened here. All of our faulty phones must have simultaneously and spontaneously fixed themselves.

Since the technical team were so adamant that there was nothing wrong on their side that's the only explanation right?
