A couple of spam threads were posted earlier today linking to www.golfshoppingtoday.com

I went to their website and asked about PING G20 irons.

They said that these were OEM and made by PING.

    Well that's a blatant lie.

    Look at the price......$396.99

Now check this against Edwin Watts price (for one less club as they don't give you a SW in the set) ........ $699.00

As Philip said in his sticky.......Too Goo to Be True.

    Here's the response from PING:

Thank you for your communication and for your interest in PING.

Below is our official response to this type of website - so far we have identified 168 websites of this type - 38 are no longer online, 5 have been seized by the US Government and 13 have changed product but that still leaves well over 100 fully accessible to the public. We continue to take all possible action and explore new enforcement systems as they arise. If you ever get a customer in quoting prices from these types of website we can send this response to their e-mail addresses if required.

Following a successful legal action in the USA against a .com website based in China there are now further actions taking place - however a lot of these types of website are now converting both their names and their suffix to .co.uk etc.

Philip you can add this to your sticky if you want.

For the rest, please do some homework before being tempted by these silly prices.

If you want to buy genuine PING then use this:

    Heres another one to add;)
    http://www.cheekybambino.com/

I recently made an enquiry as to whether their clubs were genuine,as they were so much cheaper than other retailers, this was their reply.....

    Hi,

Thank you for your query. All our products are fully guaranteed and if not
100% happy with your purchase you can refund your item; once the item is in
unused condition and within 28 days.

We cannot speak for other retailer's prices but we have our own pricing
    strategy.

    Regards,
    Cheeky Bambino

Just a bit of fun........do you think their clubs are genuine or fake?

    lisa 21:34:33
Welcome to our customer service! May I help you?
    Me 21:35:23
Hi I'm looking for a price for PING G20 irons. Your website says that graphite and steel shafts are the same price......is that correct?
    lisa 21:36:05
    yes, sir
    Me 21:36:18
    That's very unusual.
    lisa 21:36:28
    we are on promotion
    Me 21:36:42
    Where are they shipped from?
    lisa 21:36:59
we ship the golf clubs from the supplier directly
    Me 21:37:15
So these are shipped directly from PING?
    lisa 21:37:32
    from the manufacture directly
    Me 21:38:05
    I don't understand.....who manufactures the clubs?
    lisa 21:38:40
    the supplier
    Me 21:39:05
I guess you don't know who it is
    Me 21:39:39
Ok so are these genuine PING clubs?
    lisa 21:39:52
    they are genuine, sir
    Me 21:40:08
    Made and manufactured by PING,USA?
    lisa 21:40:21
    yes.
    Me 21:40:39
And they are about half price?
    lisa 21:40:57
yes, we are on promotion, sir
    Me 21:41:37
Ok I don't understand how they can be genuine. I contacted PING and they said that you sell fake clubs.....is that true?
    lisa 21:41:53
    our golf clubs are real
    Me 21:42:20
Of course they are real but are they fake.......copies of PING and not made by PING
    lisa 21:42:49
sorry sir, i don't know what you are talking about.
    Me 21:43:39
Do you realise that it is agaionst the law to sell PING clubs when they are not made or supplied by PING........PING have said that your clubs are fake.

    (them......not Lisa)
    Thanks for your advice!

    The online chat then ended.

I wonder if the guy who spammed the forum about www.golfshoppingtoday.com will come on and defend them?

PING will hopefully close them down - well they will just change the website and start again.

The "live" chat is probably an automated program with default responses stored ready to churn out based on your input so even that too could be fake :)

Watch out for Ping replicas. I bought "Cheap Ping G20 irons" here: http://www.dotgif.co.uk, and they turned out to be Chinese counterfeits. Right now I'm fighting to get my money back, but it's not easy. The website has moved twice since that, first here: http://www.imagomundi.co.uk and then here: http://www.doyledevere.co.uk/ . I am not saying, that these sell replicas too, but the construction of the pages, FAQ-sections, prices etc. are very much alike:
    www.golfclubsunited.co.uk www.sasbah.co.uk www.golfprovider.co.uk
    www.eaglegolf.co.uk www.neoplanet.co.uk www.grahamward.co.uk
    So beware, friends.

I have tried to purchase ping putter cradle for an iphone. The online shop mcguircks told me ping have a policy of not allowing you to purchase on line pick up only.
    Is this correct?
