Hi folks looking for some assistance please, at the moment i'm have a sky hd sub and previously I was paying €38 in total but with the changing of the packages in September I was affected and lost channels.
In response to this they applied an offer to my account for 3 months which is ending next month and my my sky sub per month will be €48 which €10 extra then I was previously paying and will not pay.

I then rang sky again and they said the best deal that they could done is to give a 25% discount on my sub which would bring my monthly sub to €40, but and theres always a but I would have to enter into a 12 month contract which is not what I want to to, so at the moment cancelling seems the the best course of action for me, but has anybody experienced anything like this or can anybody offer me some advice, many thanks in advance.

Vey confusing but it looks like you were on the 23e basic pack and HD for 15e makng a total of 38e per month
But now they have changed there pack to 25e a month and 15e for HD making 40e per month, but you are not getting a discount on this so there should be no contract I dont know where the figure of 48e is comng from

Hi, yes I was on the 23e basic pack and HD for 15e makng a total of 38e per month, then because of the changes in September I lost channels and when I rang they changed my sub and channels and added discounts on my acccount to counter act the increase the additional cost which would be €48 a month with the hd sub at €15 and entertainment extra package at €33 a month

No existing subscribers should have lost channels with the recent package changes. Something must have went wrong or there are some other circumstances that caused it to happen we are not aware of.

    What channels did you lose?

I lost the discovery, animal planet etc. hd channels, sky arts hd, eurosport hd, but I didn't have these channels on standard def. only hd as this was the deal I subscribed to, but on Sept 1 they went.

ah i got you so when you were 1st installed you didnt need to subscribe to the knowledge pack for example to get National Geo HD but when they made the changes in their pack you needed to subscribe to the pack to get the HD channel.

dont know why you dont want to go into contract though as if you cancel and go FTA you wont get National Geo and Sky Arts etc

If you go to UPC it is also a 12 contract plus still pay 40e a month for their max pack and HD

so my advise is to pay sky the 40e per month and go into contract or stay out of contract and pay the extra 8e per month

To be honest i'm in to minds about it and may cancel.

The price you were paying originally should have stayed as is until August 2013 as there is a price freeze. You should also have gained channels-not lost any.

What's the bets that when you ring to cancel they'll magically be able to sort it out for you.Worth a call at least.

To get the price freeze you had to stay on the same pack, so if you changed pack then that brought you out of the price freeze the OP was on Sky basic for 23e a month plus HD sub but then changed his pack to Entertainment at 25e pm and HD sub.

No harm trying to squeeze Skys arm but in my experience with them it is a lump or leave it offer with contract

Technically I didn't change my pack. they added channels that was missing.
