Was at the Classic Car show in the NEC over the weekend and in hall 5 they have a section where prestigious car dealers show their wares.

    One of them was this....

Some of the cars for sale had crazy low miles and all were as new. Such a waste of a car imo. My pick would have been a BMW 2002 with 36 or 42k miles on it and has never been restored but still looks like new.

Lovely BMW, but still crazy money for a non sport model, and not quite a classic car yet.

Looks gorgeous, although, I wouldn't cough out the £8,999 pounds.

Would be up on €12,200 including VRT plus NCT plus tax. You would get an E39 M5 over here for that money.

I mentioned the prices to some of the dealers and they all said their cars had very few owners and very little milage so this added a premium. You'd be surprised how many had sold stickers on the window!

Different system of looking at cars over there. We're only go for a reg number, as you know.

At the same time, I wouldn't buy a low mileage 10-11 year old car. I'd prefer to have something like that with 90,000 or more miles, I know of people that have had nothing but hassle from old, low mileage cars, from lack of use etc.

I'd agree with that, I don't understand people having smashing/special/expensive cars and never driving them and like you say an older car with low milage could be more problematic than the same car with high milage.

And ya the english don't seem as pre-occupied about the year of a car as aul paddy.
