Hi, I'm looking a buying a portable DVD for my daughter and I want to get one that plays Divx / Mpeg4 etc but any that I see dont advertise been able to play AVI files or am I covered with Divx / Mpeg4 capability? Thanks,

You should be covered with divx / mpeg 4. The avi bit is just a container. The avi contains an mpeg4 movie.

Avi playback will usually mean it covers files which adhere to the Divx/Xvid standards, so you shouldn't have any problems.
