Nice install/ ad, let's people try to match marathon pace with a pro over 60 feet.

Giant Video Wall Lets You Get Smoked by a Marathoner
It's pretty hard to appreciate just how blazingly fast top-tier marathon runners are going- for 26.2 miles. So this video ad for the NYC Marathon let you attempt a marathon pace for just 60 feet. Nobody could do it.

The video wall features Olympian Ryan Hall, who with a mile pace of 4:46 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and a stride length of 6 feet 10 inches, is probably some sort of cyborg Darpa project and not an actual human. Now we just need video walls to demonstrate how much stronger, smarter, funnier, and better looking other singular humans are. Thank you for both shattering our self-esteem and leaving us in awe of the human species.

    That is cool.

A long term goal of mine would be to be able to run 1 mile at world record marathon pace.

You might want to aim for 400m 800m at world record marathon pace :)
I know I'd be pretty happy with that

    Aim high exactly!
I do realise that a ~ 4.45 mile is crazy fast but who knows what a few years constant running may bring...

    1.11 and 2.22, more or less :)

(and 4.46/mile is Ryan Hall's marathon pace, world record pace is even faster)

    Thanks ray

ya it think its 4.43 now. That was his boston time ( 2.04.xx right?)

Yeah, that would be about his Boston pace. I notice in the ad they don't have big fans behind the people trying to match his pace :pac:

71 seconds for 400m is very achievable, I'm sure there are loads of people on here who could do it.
Maintaining that pace for a second lap, on the other hand...

WR pace is 4.43 so effectively just under 71 seconds 400s

    400 -70.75
    800 -2.21.5
    1000m - 2.56
    1200- 3.32.25
    1600m (just shy of a mile)4.43.00
    3000m - 8.47
    5000m - 14.39

My aim in life would be probably to hit the 3k @ that pace :D
