When a man mysteriously dies by an invisible force, his body rapidly begins turning ghostly white. The Fringe team learns that this is not an isolated incident, and there's evidence that links the predator to someone who passed away with an unknown genetic disorder. Meanwhile, Olivia (Anna Torv) suffers from migraines.

3 sneak peek videos for tomorrow nights episode at http://www.youtube.com/user/FoxBroadcasting?blend=1&ob=4

Not sure what their end game with the Amber Lincoln/Olivia thing is. Maybe, it's a classic Fringe mis-direction. They're great at doing red herrings.

great episode, thought it odd that peter was so preoccupied by the machine and wasnt involved in the case, what was up with the glasses he gave to lincoln,

usual monster of the week stuff with the overall story tipping away at a decent pace,

its great how your thinking for most of the episode that things are starting to get to olivia only to find out nina has been taking samples of her blood for a while,

i wonder since theyve only discovered recently that there was some degree of success with the cortexifan patients, that shes attempting to restart more trials and need oliivas blood to synthesize more cortexifan like walternate was trying on the other side to our universe, seeing as william bell is also dead there,

and well find out on the 13th of january 2012:eek:

I was hugely disappointed by this episode. Thought it was boring and the MOTW was dull and uninteresting.

I think they were injecting something into Olivia, rather than taking her blood.

Well there could be two reasons why Peter gave the glasses to Lincoln. First the most obvious is Peter thinks Lincoln could do with a better look and thus help with him and Olivia getting closer. Peter belives this is not his Olivia but giving his feeling for her, he wants to help make this Olivia happy and see her and Lincoln have something so he wants to help progress that and make them happy. Mind you I do not think Olivia really cares if Lincoln wear " nerd chic" glasses or any other kind.
Saying that I think Olivia & Lincoln do deserve a bit of happiness and really are a good match. Lincoln is who she was supposed to be with I say, if Peter has never lived.

Or secondly the writers have slipped in in there as a reference to something that is important, but if it is well I have not got a clue. Maybe a reference to be seen and recognised. Olivia seeing that man behind the glasses, Peter wanting to be seen and recognised etc.

The problem for me is that they are suggesting this is some other universe or timeline, and Peter has accepted this is not his Olivia and Walter and therefore they mean nothing to him.

So why should I care about them? Why should I care what Nina is doing to her if it is some 3rd version of olivia? 2 universes was enough,2 versions was enough. They actually made me feel for the alt olivia last season when she betrayed Walternate etc but if this is some extra set of versions of the characters I jsut can't seem to care.

why was olivia dreaming about peter

I want to see this version of the alternate universe. I want to know what new Walternate is like. Presumably Fauxlivia doesn't have a baby? Without falling in love with Peter she has never come up against Walternate. Is she still engaged to Scott(?) as she wouldn't have cheated on him, got pregnant and developed and attachment to that universe's Lincoln. What other differences has Peter's absence ensured over there?

Olivia was knocked out and injected with Cortexiphan, the same drug she was injected with as a child. Oh Nina, you evil genius you. I liked this episode more than most this season but yeah, I find it hard to invest in these characters when Peter has made it clear that they are not 'ours' so to speak. Of course, that could be a massive misdirection/red herring.

well if shes being injected with cortexifan itll mean she can bring peter back to his universe instead of him using the machine,

But they are our version just without Peters influence. People seem to be getting confused between what we know happened and Peter's reaction ( he does not know he was earsed). So to him he is in the wrong place, makes logical sense to him from what he knows, but we as an audiance know better. That he is in the right place but is not supposed to have ever existed so why should people know him. Like a ghost effect.

Why are people letting Peter's opinions influence how they feel about the show and characters. He does not know what his faith was actually supposed to be, not to live in either universe, so obvioulsy he thinks he has to get back to where he was loved and accepted. However that place does not exist, we are seeing what would have happened if Peter never lived.
Walter is still helping with FBI but not as socially fit, Olivia still has huge trust and emotional issues, Lincoln has a place on the Fringe team and like Olivia are similar in nature. Lincoln is who Olivia is supposed to be with, as Peter never existed.
I am enjoying the journey the writers are taking us on.

Solid, yet unremarkable. The MOTW aspect was dull and plain as FreudianSlippers said.

Wyman and Pinkner said in an interview recently: ''This Walter and this Olivia that he’s now interacting with, look just like them and in many ways feel just like them, but aren’t them. ''

Yes but I think they are messing with people a bit as they obviously are not the same people we have been watching for last 3 season, as they have not had Peter's influence in their lives. So Wyman and Pinkner are not techincally saying nothing as I suppose it can be open to opinon. They know the fans are split onto 2 main sides - a 3rd universe or this is the blue & red one as it was supposed to be. They are playing a clever game and giving nothing away as what they said can be used to back up either argument.

My view is this. I think they are not referring to a different version of them such as Alt-Olivia and Alt-Lincoln, Walternate but rather our crew have different personalities, life expereinces. It is these things which shape a person, so we are seeing life of the Fringe crew as it was orginaly supposed to be.

What I am getting sick of - and I am not referring to here but other sites discusing Fringe - is people complaing about the lack of Peter and Olivia's romance. Fringe is never that show and if all they want that well switch programmes. That and how we do not get enough Peter screen time.
Seems to be that they complained about how show was using the whole Peter / Observer destinty enough and now they do and all they want is fuzzy warm romance. I am all for a bit of love and Olivia could do with a date without being blown up, drugged etc. and in this current timeline I have no issue with herself and Lincoln cozying up. They both could do with it.

Sorry for little rant at end and heading off topic. Had the same discussion with friend other day and all she wants to see if more fuzzy warm Olivia and Peter moments.

Thought the latest episode was a little on the boring side but the revelation at the end was a nice twist.

No more until next year though :(

    My hatred of baseball grows.

Technically, and this comes from those far more in the know about Fringe than myself, amber universe interacts with purple universe (that is; alt-red is actually called purple)

Yep, not disagreeing - more of a housekeeping issue.

Either amber is blue without peter (as is purple red without peter) or else we're seeing a parallel set of parallel universes.

I cant remember if Nina was ever seen in the Alt universe in the last seasons - but would it be possible for her to be the "same" person going from universe to universe. I cant imagine that all that time passed from the time Walter went over to get Peter up until he got out of hospital and MD didn't develop some stable way of moving between worlds.

I can just imagine a closet off Nina's office that brings her from world to world controlling everything - even Walternate.

After watching this weeks episode, one thing is clear: I hate baseball!! As the next episode was planned to be the "fall finale" this one just felt more like a lead up to it.

But then there was the twist at the very end, which completely surprised me, but didn't capture my interest the way Fringe cliffhangers/revelations usually do. I think it's because usually I have ideas about what might be going on, this time I'm sitting there waiting for them to explain it all to stupid little me!! We wait in anticipation I guess!!

Just a note - Baseball season is over.

These breaks are more to do with Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The point is that episode 8 was intended to be the mid-season finale but was bumped due to baseball.

Thought this ep was kinda boring and rubbish, cliffhanger of smoke under the door to knock Olivia out and Nina injecting her with that stuff again... mah.

This whole season is boring tbh, season 3 was such an amazing build up then the final ep was a let down and now its like I am watching Season 1 all over again.

Also why is there a break until Jan? Is there really baseball on? Is it due to Thanksgiving(which is a bank holiday!) and Xmas? Really America?

Dont know weather to stick with this or not now....

Most US shows do a mid-season break. Fringe being a Friday show gets hit harder because of Thanksgiving and then Christmas. The baseball "world" series made us one episode short pre mid-season break.

IMO episode 8 was going to be the real game-changer that would leave us in anticipation until January, and baseball fecked it all up and left us hanging on a rather dry episode.
