Group wont show up in a search

I was a member of a group, of which 2 friends are moderators. A week ago the group just disappeared from my page! When I click "groups" or "older" it's not even there! Although for a while the 1st day, when I would search for it on FB, the page would come up, and I could see the list of members etc. (I was not listed).

So I clicked "add me" but the admin people get a message "you cant add this person to this group".
Now when I even search for the group name (Starlight Kidz) at the top of the FB page it doesnt even show up on Firefox or Chrome. In IE9 yes it is listed, but when I click on it the page just hangs forever! (Update, it wont show on IE9 now)

I checked with the admin people again today and they get the same msg, and also they have the group marked private, just to give you that info.

If someone had reported a post by me (dont know why they woud but you never know!) would that cause the problem, and if so, would the admin not be notified by FB, cos they haven't been?

In case you are trying to search for the group. its an Irish group, there is one foreign one that shows up.

Impossible to contact facebook so I hope someone here has suggestions!

If the group is marked "secret" it won't show up in searches. If it's "closed" it will appear in a search but you can't view the contact.

It sounds like you were removed from the group and need to be added again. This could be the reason - happening to all old groups:

"This group is scheduled to be archived
Over the next few months, Facebook will be archiving all groups created using the old groups format. When this group is archived, its wall posts, photos and discussion threads will move to the New groups format, but group members will need to be re-added."

FB will look slightly different depending on your browser and some functions do not work the same. Also parts of FB "break" from time to time. Suggest you leave it a few days and try again.

It's nearly 2 weeks!

But you could be right, I may have actually removed myself by mistake, and I do think they have the group marked secret. So I'll get them to change it.

Why i wonder, could they not add me though...?

Still no luck, I still cant see the group when I search. I read somewhere that if I am "banned" rather than just "removed" then I cant see the group in searches. But the admins say they didnt ban me.

Also I read that admins can no longer "un-ban" people that they have banned.
Its a crazy situation and a bit disturbing as Im wondering if someone banned me....maybe theres another admin person that they dont know about.

is there any reason why they may have banned you? You'll know the answer yourself.

It is quite possible that they have not added you back to the group after the changes?

Starlight Kidz that you mentioned above is a closed group with 85 members.

You need to apply to join.

BTW - if you put "Starlight Kidz" in the search bar it returns no results. You have to click on the "See results for Starlight Kids Displaying (0) results".

When I click on the Starlight Kidz link in your post I get this:

The page you requested cannot be displayed right now. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may have expired, or you may not have permission to view this page.

So were you able to find it when you searched? I cant!

The 2 admin are friends of mine and say they dont know what happened, one of them has actually emailed Facebook about it, not that we ever expect a reply.

If I removed myself accidentally I believe they cant add me unless I ask. But I cant ask as I cant bring the group up!

If one of them banned me (!?) I read where FB has changed the settings so you cant un-ban a former member, eg in the case of a mistaken banning etc.

Unless, there is a 3rd admin person that they dont know about, who banned me. Im going over to one of their houses Tuesday night and bringing my laptop. Trying to think best how to check it out. Possibly if I logged in to FB with my nephews ID and see will the group come up then, I dont know.

Just clicked on the link brianD posted and it loaded up straight away for me. There's only two admins.

Can I come to the conclusion that one of them banned me so? One of them tried to add me as a member and was told "you cannot add this person to this group" or more or less that anyway. The other one said she has emailed Facebook and isnt getting a reply! So its puzzling!

I know if you delete yourself (which is possible I might have) they cant add you back, you have to request it. But that wouldnt explain why the group doesnt show up.

Oh another thing, I registered as a different user name etc the other day, and the group STILL wouldnt show up in a search! Could it be something with my laptop.....hardly..?

Try clearing your cache. You are unlikely to get a response from FB any time soon.

If you created a fake profile then you probably can't do much with it until you verify the profile. Note FB are systematically deleting fake profiles when they find them.

At this stage I'd move on. If you think there's a possibility that you may have been banned then you probably have been.

I cleared all private data, browsing history and cache, but then I have to login or I cant do anything in Facebook. At that point the group wont show.

I wouldnt call it a fake profile; I used my real name and a different email address, and I confirmed by email etc. I think it treaed me as a new FB user. But at that point the group still didnt show up in a search.

Its difficult to move on; if it was any old group i would do that, but I work for and with those 2 people and its bothering me. I guess I'll have to talk to them and try to establish in my own mind (hopefully!) that they didnt ban me and its a Facebook bug.
