Anybody else really pissed off with TG4 getting so much rugby coverage lately? It was bad enough they got to show the Leinster - Munster match last week but getting the Heineken Cup 1st round highlights too. Its not on. Where is McGurk, Hook and Popey???

Well considering they give 3 hour highlights as opposed to the crammed one hour RTE show I'm glad "it's on"

Just watched the Munster game on TG4 and think the coverage is excellent. A good option for people who don't have the money to be throwing at Sky.

Yeah it's so annoying how one of our national broadcasters show Irish rugby games.

It's so much better when none do.

TG4 are by far the best of the Irish channels, are you annoyed that you don't understand what they're saying?

Their coverage of the GAA is fantastic also.

Compared to the riveting drama 'Love/Hate' on RTE.

Exactly why couldn't RTE put it on instead of Love/Hate. Im sure it would get a hell of alot more viewers than Love/Hate or the number of viewers it will get showing the rugby On TG4

RTE would probably have had a 90-120 minute package on a day when both Munster and Leinster had a game.
TG4 need to do the decent thing and offer a 'red button' english commentary option for the 90 something per cent of the population who can't understand irish. If they have exclusive access to the HCup highlights, then they need to cater for their audience.
Irish language Nazis would lose the effing plot, though.

RTE ignoring it is their own loss...complain about rte not putting any effort in instead of TG4 having the sense to see a gap and take it

TG4 care more about rugby than RTE.

S4C broadcast a lot of matches in welsh but they respect their viewers enough to provide an english option on the red button. TG4 insisting on Irish only is nothing short of a tiny minority lording it over the majority whose licence fees and taxes pay for their channel to show rugby. Considering the amount of Irish language programs on RTE1 & RTE2 it would simply return the favour to provide at least an S4C style dual language simulcast.

Apart from world class documentaries and lots of live sport and news programs. Not their fault you can not speak your native tongue. Mind you it's probably not your fault you can not speak your native tongue either! Slán :D

Because they don't have the rights? That might have something to do with it, I reckon...

The technology and money involved just wouldn't be worth it. Is it so important that you understand the commentary? Just be happy that an Irish channel bothered to buy the rights to the competition and that you can see the matches.

The native tounge of the Irish people is English. It has been since long before the foundation of the state.

World class documentaries to match their world class soaps like Ros na Run. People give out stink about how much Pat Kenny,Tubs , Miriam and Joe get paid by RTE. Look at the money TG4 waste on crap like that and it makes there salarys look like pittance

no the native tongue of Ireland is Irish, much like Welsh is the native tongue of Wales.

Granted our main language is English but people have been speaking Irish here a lot longer than we've been speaking English
