laptop to tv

not sure if this is the right place but anyway i have been trying to watch videos on tv through the laptop only prob is the picture on the tv has a small shadow very annoying not easy too watch.im using a vga cable and seperate cable for sound.has anyone any ideas? thanks

Check is there an update for your video card.
Try a different VGA cable and try it on a different TV as well to narrow down the problem.
If it work on a differnet TV with the cable you are using its the original TV.
If it works on original TV with a different cable its the original cable!

forgot to say its a toshiba laptop and a 50" sony bravia tv
