Just advertised on Rté 2 there now as "coming soon", so yeah, it looks like it is.

They should just skip right ahead to season 2.

Now if only they'd pick up Community!

Yeah, RTE has picked up 'Parks and Recreation'

Starts this Friday at 8pm on RTE2 (Followed by Ep 2 at 8.30)

    "Season 1 Episode 1 of 6
Pilot New series. The adventures of Leslie Knope, an over-enthusiastic local government official in the small Indiana city of Pawnee, and her mismatched friends and colleagues. Eager to advance her career, Leslie searches for a big project she can use to make her mark - and thinks she may have found it when nurse Ann Perkins makes a complaint about a disused pit. Comedy, starring Amy Poehler, Aziz Ansari, Rashida Jones and Nick Offerman"

I wonder how long will RTE stick with it in a Primetime (ish) time slot?

Excellent. I've been meaning to check this out.

Excellent. I've been meaning to check this out.

Be warned, first (short) season isn't great. Gets much better from Season 2 onward.

I don't think it became a really 'great' show until season 3. Season 2 gets good when they go on the hunting trip.

I hope RTE stick with it. It would suck if everyone dropped it because of the first few crappy episodes.

Will Irish audiences get Ron Swanson?

Good decision by RTE I think. Agree that the first season might not grab enough people's attention though. It's really very good.

Was pretty damn average until mid-way through season 2.

    Been amazing since!

I gave up after the first season too..

.. but heard great things about it in season 2 so went back to it.

Much improved in it's second and third seasons.

I had to stop the first episode of P&R after a minute or so: I can't stand "shaky cam" tricks any more. The worst is when the cameraman suddenly zooms in just a little with a jerk, like he's trying to make the camerawork look amateur. I see that and I just want to turn the TV off, and there were at least two of those in the first minute.

Have RTE given up on this or just hidden it somewhere in the middle of the night?

The first season is only 6 episodes. I turned it on the other night and they were up to episode 5 so they didn't give up

Stick with it, it's gonna get so goooood.

Hmm, watched the first few episodes and was bored to death but judging by this thread I shouldn't give up...

This. A thousand times this. S1 was really really underwhelming - it felt like the EP had his grubby hands all over it and was trying to make it identical to the office.

It's only once S2 sets in and they all start to find their voices that this show takes off. Now it's probably my favourite comedy on 'telly'.

I actually quite liked season 1 :o Maybe the fact that I've never watched an episode of The US Office helped...

RTE was the first channel to show Parks And Recreation on this side of the atlantic but it has just been bought by BBC4.
Forget the Emmys showered on Modern Family: this Amy Poehler comedy, which centres around the oddball employees of the parks and recreation department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana, is arguably the strongest sitcom on US television right now, making its late arrival in Britain all the more surprising.

The most recent episode on US TV had a great cameo from Veep Joe Biden. Amy Poehler's performance in that scene was also great.

Has Parks and Recreation been dropped by RTE and BBC4? I haven't seen it in a long time (though I do recall one time my search button on Sky not finding it when it was there). All I saw was to the end of season 3 I think.

[I hope it's ok to bring up this old thread].

I think it comes on network 2 around end of march/april every year.
