School Kids on the road at 7am - why?

    Hi all,

Okay, so we all know that the morning rush-hour traffic is better when schools are off. Makes sense.

However, I'm on the roads just after 7am each morning! So why is this still the case? Why are school kids being driven around this early? School starts at 9am in most cases!
It just strikes me as odd that at 7am there's still less traffic when the schools are off!

Anyone know? Or have we got any culprits here?

Some people have a job to go to, just like yourself.

We leave at 7:30, because I work nearly 60 mile from home, my wife works 40. The are minded by my mother in law. If we could get out of rut we would.

Not being a moan, but what has it got to do with you? and how does it effect you?

I assume its a general query. Not a direct attack on parents. Both parents generally have to work now OP. Means that parents have to drop them to a minder pre school. I meet it at half six! Poor kids! I was lucky with a stay at home mother.

Why are you getting defensive? I just asked a question.

And when they're off school - are you still on the road with them at the same time each morning? If so, then my query doesn't apply to you, because you're consistent. I'm wondering where the 7am kids disappear to when schools are off!

Exactly - so why does the traffic ease at 7am when schools are off!

many parents divide their holiday over the school term breaks - hence lighter traffic. Plus teachers and staff are off the road also. Many teachers have a very long commute too...

Personally I load the wife and kids into the car at 7am every day for several reasons. Primarily to get them out from under my feet, but also, just to annoy you OP. They drive around aimlessly for 2 hours... ah feck it, I've no idea why kids are out at 7am, maybe they are just getting home from a big night out? Or getting a run at the day??

Some kids have pre school activities like swimming and orchestra, these can start as early as 7.15/7.30 am.

would swimming with a Cello not ruin the instrument?
