I'm looking to get myself a scope to go on my .223(which I hope to have the licence for in a few weeks) and just wondering do you's have any recomendations?

I'll only be using the rifle for lamping primarily.

A few makes and prices would be helpful,

    Cheers.

Hi, well id advise you to buy a good scope and good mounts for your gun, what brand you wanna buy is your choice.if uve money buy zeiss, swarovski, schmidt and bender or nightforce would be the top 4 brands and burris and bushnil be next down.. after that i dont know what other brands...for lamping i think you would need a wide lence like a 50mm and a 30mm tube to allow more light in and the clearer the lense the more detail your going to see.. ive swarovski and you can see the whole entire fox no problem at 250 yards, after that its up to your lamps power.. im just giving my opinion but you wont know a good scope till you look through a good one ;)..spend 700 plus on one or buy 2nd hand even. i payed 1800.. some of the cheap scopes all you will see is eyes but you wont know exactly what it is or even worse it be misting up and going off on you all the time.that would drive anyone mad lol

I think looking at the net and forums if it is in your price range the S&B 8x56 fixed power seems to be the most advised scope for a lamping rig

Fixed magnification is a good job. fast shooting no messing around.. schimdt and bender, zeiss, swarovski have the clearest lenses in the world i believe and highly polished. I think mine comes with 30 year warranty

Theres a fantastic brand thats underestimated as some people wouldnt have heard of ''Kayhles'' is the name. They have a great name Austrian based like Swarovski and have good image quality. Kahles use achromatic multi-coatings (AMV) ON THEIR LENSES,WHICH HELP MAXIMISE LIGHT-GATHERING IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS WHICH ARE PHRASE CORRECTED TO MAINTAIN DEFINED CONTRASTING IMAGES. dam forgot to take off caps lock lol. Their lenses are high defination like the brands i listed above, there nitrogen filled and waterproof too.. Hope this is handy info for you. You be able to check the fox for fleas with these good brands before you shoot lol :D:pac:

i think you should consider a variable mag scope 10x 15x
spend as much as you can afford
its going on a ..223 ,,your going to need more magnification than a 8x

i use a fixed mag and a variable
and to be honest ,ya cant beat a variable for the extra bit of distance

if your shooting magpies or other vermin at medium distances id say go for a variable
