Travelling - planes - golf bag

    Going on a golfing holiday in January. Half thinking of buying a new stand bag.

    Spoke to a sales person in a shop and they reckon a new bag would get wrecked with all the loading & unloading from a plane.

    What do you think? Should I just bring an old bag instead for the trip?

    You will probably need something like a travel bag;

    Don't know if a stand bag will be any advantage on holiday though. Most people opt for a buggy while golfing in the sun.

    It is true about rough handling at the airport. I have seen baggage handlers throw around golf gear like they were big pillows. It would put you off bringing your gear on a plane. Most pros use a hard case which protects the contents better when travelling.

    Take whatever bag you like but get yourself a golf bag travel case or whatever you call them. I got one and found it very handy. Has wheels one end for easy transport. Lockable so you still have your pro v's when you arrive. They are not expensive got mine a few years ago about 35 if I rember correctly. It's a cheap one but all you need.

    I have got a travel cover/case already - so you reckon that will protect the golf bag? I hope so. The stand bags are light so that's one of the reasons I want it for the holiday.

    The other reason why I want to get a stand bag is I could be playing a few rounds on my own. I am travelling with my Dad so for the games with him we will be renting out a buggy. When I am playing on my own I don't need a buggy.
