ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel)

    Hey everyone,

Has anyone come across this? The diesel has been changed and the sulfur content reduced and has come into effect since the start of this year in Ireland, possibility last year. The sulfur acts to lubricate the injectors and seals.

Fuel companies have added in an additive to overcome this and upgraded injectors post 2005. Is this enough?

    Any comments?

    Will.

I read there was concerns for its effects on agri machinery, but I have not heard of similar for road cars.

There is a pdf fact sheet on here with some details relating to agri use.

I always use BP ultimate diesel out here or shell v power diesel. Haven't had any engine issues or turbo issues etc and I've 300km on the clock (previous owner used it as well bought the car with 70odd km on it)
I've no idea of the difference bcuse I've never gone for the other diesel.
A trip back to Ireland might give me an opportunity to assess

Came across that myself but cheers for the link man. Seems to be a lack of info or access to it. Was on SHELL website and they said there was no side effects BUT the injectors may be lacking lubrication so to add in an additive.

I heard it first in the agri circles and then started hearing rumours about the new fuel affecting cars.

    Thanks for the comments....

Switzerland - the land that actually doesn't hate the car contrary to popular belief!
I assume it has a lower sulphur content never checked into it - just formed a habit of fuelling consistently with it
