Big news on letsrun thought may have been of interest here

18 year old Triathlon World Champion Lukas Verbicas has left the University of Oregon just months after starting in the college

The Lithuanian born US athlete spent last year focusing solely towards Running and clocked national HS record over two mile as well as break the 4 min mile. He then dedicated his summer to training for the World Tri for his friend a who is recoverying from cancer and won the World Juniors in Bejing

He looked to be bound for running signing for one of the top college programs in the US however after a less than spectacular start of the season decided to quit UO in order to pursue a pro career in Triathlon

Interesting that as a lithuanian citizen he was not eligible to compete for US in athletics in olympics but could compete in triathlon.
