I meant to mention that when I was in Woodies today that they were selling a 24 pack of Duracell AA Batteries for €9.99.

These were decent value but much better if you get them for €8.

if something is already reduced does the discount still apply? I have my eye on a coal bunker that was €99.99 now €79.99:)

Probably not, that's one thing that pisses me off about Woodies. In B&Q, if there is an offer on it is off everything, except if specifically excluded. In Woodies, all the 3 for 2 etc. and reduced offers are usually excluded.

One word of warning on this is that it does not apply to anything already reduced or in some sort of special deal.

All the bits and pieces I was looking for had some sort of deal or reduction on them (in one case I think it was a 1€ reduction!)

Keep this in mind if planning a big purchase with this deal as it will save you time and effort

Does anyone know if Woodies do party supplies, like for a 30th? I never go in there but am looking for party stuff and heard somewhere they do them.

Not all the stores have them, only some of the bigger ones have the 'Party Zone'. Probably best to ring in advance and ask.

you should be able to use the 20% off vouchers on already discounted items if the discount is less than 20%...ie. if an item is 10e with a 1e off as part of a deal, they will bring the discount up to 20% so that u then get 2e off if u know what i mean...
this doesn't come off automatically though and you do need to say it to the girl at check outs...who will then need to say it to a supervisor..but if it saves u money!

+1 on this. I'd did this when buy some outdoor furniture there last year

This only creates confusion and embarrassment. I seriously doubt Woodies are taking the hit on the reduced or 3 for 2 offers, for the most part these are supplier led. Just give the discount off everything and be done with it.
I often find prices in my local builders' providers to be better than Woodies.

You could go to B&Q and get them to price promise against woodies 20% off price, that way you will save another 10% ontop (assuming woodies with 20% off is cheaper than B&Q price)

Eh..If they price promise it...they will only reduce it down to the woodies price...and then they will be the same!

Obviously the builders providers will be better...they buy things more in bulk and sell it quicker..
The 3 for 2 offers dont apply because technically you are not allowed give anything away for free..so they take 1/3 off each item which is 33%...which is higher than the 20% offer... :D:o they could get rid of all the discounts at the time and then everything would apply but some offers are better than the 20% so then the customer would be missing out!

Actually, as Haggis The Dog stated above, B&Q will match the price and give you 10% of the difference - even on items already on sale or discount in a competing store. I did this recently with a hedgetrimmer: €221 in B&Q v's €150 in Woodies. Price match and got it for €135. :) That's what B&Q get for overcharging in the first place! In comparison, Woodies' price match is just refund the difference.

Where is the technicality that says you can't give anything away for free?
Whatever about sand, cement or first fixing materials, I seriously doubt that builders' providers would buy DIY tools etc. in more bulk than Woodies or B&Q, yet these are the types of items that are regularly cheaper.
I don't believe that the DIY chains take a hit on 3 for 2 offers, this is just a marketing ploy like any you will find in Tesco or Dunne's and is driven by suppliers, else why would you have the same offers in different chains?

    Thanks OP..

Got 2 x solid fuel stoves for me and her one's (In laws) with €100 off each. Was delighted it worked. 89Kg each they were big b@stards but heat is great off them and use far less fuel than open fire.

I used one in Naas last weekend and the manageress was called to the till to give the cashier a code and she said she didn't know the offer was on, but there was no problem she keyed in a number at the till and the discount was applied then

No. We used the vouchers a few weeks ago and because the paint was already reduced by 5% the discount did not apply.

Used my 20% voucher today in Woodies Castlebar. I needed to get a dehumidifier which was priced at €170 and a bag of dogfood at €28. I took them to the customer services desk where the manager was only too pleased for me to use my voucher and I got the lot for €158. :D Delighted!

Any more 20% codes these days?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 795 ✭✭✭Lima Golf

Don't know of any 20% off codes but I get 10% off year round with my axa plus card. If you have an insurance policy with axa you get one automatically. Don't know if that info is of any use to you but it may be to others...
