Wonderinf if this happened to anyone.
I ordered an item from a supplier in Japan.
Cost €30 plus shipping of €30
As I can only buy the item in Japan I thought the delivery was expensive but worth it.
When it arrioved I received an invoice from the shipping company looking for an additional payment of €48 saying it was Excise Duty.

I assumed this would have been in the initial delivery charge. When i queries it they informed me that they would go legel if not paid within 2 weeks. All quite confusing.

    Hello Perfectring,

have a look at the following thread

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055862554

That should give you an idea of what is involved. Excise duty suggests tobacco or alcohol/perfume? Perhaps if you can elaborate a little and give more detail we can help you ?

    Cheers,
