Acer Travelmate 5740 Core i3 €388

I'm thinking of buying this Acer Travelmate 5740 Core i3 €388. Seems like a good deal, it has has an intel core i3 380M, rating on cpubenchmark is here. Will be used for ms office, internet and skype.

I've bought from laptopsdirect.ie before and had no issues. Just wanted to run it by here first before I buy.

grand job for the money, for what your doing with it, could do with more ram but ddr3 is very cheap at the moment, the harddrive is smallish, so if your goin to download a load of stuff your going to need a external harddrive, not a bad price for that machine

I'd definitely go for the Toshiba over the Acer for reliability and build quality.

Argos will be easier than Laptops Direct to deal with if you have any problems under warranty.

Office, Internet and Skype will run fine in 2GB although as tomboy112 says "ddr3 is very cheap at the moment" and you can never have too much.

I seen the Toshiba already but the Laptop I'm replacing was a Toshiba. The reason I'm replacing it is because there's a problem with the monther board and always had problems with it overheating and shutting down. Hardrive won't be an issue as there will be no downloading done on this laptop. Will be used almost exclusively for internet, ms office, itunes and skype.
