What are the two engine codes?

It's a matter of stripping both engines bare and transferring over everything onto the new engine from the old.only problem is I've done Afew of these and the last one I done I had to use the original head on the new engine block as there was no egr.but basically any good mechanic should be able to get ya going.

The Passat Sport model uses a 6 speed gearbox which uses a 240mm clutch, and I've an idea it has a slightly different bellhousing as a result. The standard 5-speed model uses a 228mm clutch. The 6-sp PD130 is engine code AVF and the 5-sp is AWX, and I'm willing to bet these are the two engine codes being dealt with here.

According to ETKA both engines use the same longblock and crankshaft. Different flywheel and clutch obviously.

The other big gotcha is the ECU. There is at least one VIN split in 2002 for both engines, and the AVF lists 3 different ECUs for each VIN range depending on the equipment fitted, so you'll have to make sure you get the ECU with the new engine or it may not run right.

OK I managed to locate an engine for the 2001 vw passat tdi sport and yes code is AVF.
The other engine is out of an 2002 audi A4 and is AVF too.... think it only has 5 speed box
This should fit fine now yeah, without changing the Ecu as buying an ecu would cost a small fortune, engine alone is €750

some breakers were selling the bare engine for €700 without the injectors(already sold them off at €200-€300) and wanted the old engine back.
