My current set up is a sky plus box , dvd recorder, and standard sky box located at main TV. I can view all services on 3 other tv's,both sky boxes controlled by magic eye. Unfortunately I am going to have to cancel sky in the new year and have ordered a humax pvr.

My question is can anyone explain what to do to have the humax controlled at the other locations. I believe you need an item called an rf modulator and maybe a tvlink plus? I am not sure what way you would connect them though and am confused by terms such as blasters.

    any help appreciated, thanks

Google the Triax Tri-Link. It modulates from the scart output, as Humax HDR does not have a RF output like a sky box.
    Hope it helps

A "blaster" is simply a "magic eye" that retransmits the infra-red signal.

I had a similar problem to you when I got rid of sky and bought a humax box. What I did in the end was, and I presume you have saorview ready tv's for Irish TV (if not you'll need set-top boxes) get some satellite cables routed to my main bedroom and also got a digital aerial (with booster) fitted in the attic at the same time to boost the saorview signal.

The cost of getting this done considering you can then use your old sky boxes as free to view/air and also depending on your location you might need an aerial to get saorview (as you won't have any Irish channels once you lose sky) anyway might not be that much considering the cost of buying a tri-box? thingy.

I got 2 satellite cables routed to the bedroom as you never know you might in future need them. You could also route them elsewhere in the house so everyone doesn't have to be watching the same channel. You can if need be get a quad (4) or 8 LNB on your current dish so in theory you could have 8 cables in 4 or more locations in the house.

You probably have an RF TV point in the main bedroom and this is normally routed thru your attic so having a digital aerial fitted here should depending on your location be enough to pick up saorview.

I sure fitters of such equipment will be able to quote you the cost of doing this, I found my guy thru boards. The guys put two satellite cables into my bedroom, an extra tv point in the sittingroom for my playtv (ps3) and an extra tv point in a second bedroom along with a digital aerial in my attic.

many thanks for replies bin away for a couple of days.

As I have the magic eyes already , I was hoping just to buy the actual extra items I need to get this working.

BTW I have soarview tv's etc..

FTA Sky box works through the magic eyes by being fed through the amplifier from the RF2 so I can leave this as is.

The sky plus box works through the magic eyes by being connected to an item called an SPC Combiner and then into the Amp.

I am assuming I will replace this combiner with possibly the RF modulator and then connect the TV Link plus after that before feeding into the Amp?

I am probably not explaining this too well!
