    What are you implying?

only ferrybank, DSD, Clonliffe and Finn Valley.

Think Ferrybank will win it. Probably Mullingar should have been on the shortlist

Major Championships are the most important thing for an athlete, so based on that Deirdre Ryan has to win the senior award for her 6th place finish in the World Champs. I don't see why Mad Len should be given the award ahead of her when he was in 10th place. The same reason why Olive deservedly won the award ahead of Derval 2 years ago. High placings in major championships is number 1 priority for an athlete.

Having said that, had Derval not got injured, I believe she would have ranked no lower than 5th in the 100m Hurdles and would win the award again. It's unfortunate for her but I don't think she can be given the award solely based on her 4th place at the European Indoors.

For the same reason, Ciara Mageean has to win the Junior award for her silver at the European Juniors. Granted she would have been disappointed with only coming 2nd, but there is no other junior athlete who has performed to that level, so how can we justify giving the award to anybody else? For good measure she has also ran 4:07 this year.

Kate Veale is a shoe-in for Emerging athlete.

U23 is Gregan obviously, and I'd like to see Cragg win the endurance award. Finalist at the World's and 13:03 for 5000m, but I'm not sure if his nomination in that category is based on his track performances or his half marathon results.

Agree on the senior, you make a strong argument. O lionaird might get the inspirational award. In response to the question as to what was I implying re the club award. Of all the awards it's least straightforward as the tendency so far has been to share it around? Based on that I would be surprised if clonliffe or ferrybank got it. Can't recall last time it went North? So Finn Valley if I was betting. All clubs involved are great clubs but it doesn't have the hard and fast details on which to judge that the other categories may have?

Donegal Town/ Bundoran won it a couple of year back. Tir Conaill I think is there name. Big Patsy will be lifting the cup on Saturday night I reckon, they have the best track in Ireland by a mile.

I fancy Finn Valley as well especially with all the recent developments too. Buts it a question akin to how long is a piece of string.
Re Mullingar getting a nomination, in a juvenile club award yes but they don't have enough competing at senior in xc teams or national league to get nominated perhaps?

Finn Valley have only had teams in the National league 2 years out of the last 20.
Mullingar have Fagan and Christie haven't they.
Yes Finn Valley won the womens cross-country title 9 nines in the 80' and 90's but no real seniors to talk off now.
Saying that their Juvenile section is very strong with 3 championship records in the Juvenile track & field champs during the Summer and fancy them to win 2 or 3 team medals in the upcoming x-country champs, so wouldn't say it wouldn't be deserved.

Again its based on a long list of possible critera,
Facilities, Success, Numbers, Fit 4 Life programmes, planning, role in the community. All the clubs mentioned in this thread fare favourably under all these criteria but the selection is not as straightforward as that.... Im not knocking Mullingar, Ill be as impressed as always when they mop up in Adamstown this Sunday!
