Using European PS3 in Canada

I'm moving to Canada in a couple weeks and considering bringing my ps3 with me. Will I have any problems using a European Ps3 in Canada once I use the American power adapter?

Also considering just selling off my ps3 here and buying a new ps3 when I get set up over there. Does anyone know how much they sell for over there?

If the power adaptor works, then there is no problem using your PS3 over there - games are region free.
Having said that, dlc is region locked - if you buy a game over there and want to buy a map pack for example, you will have to buy it off the Canadian PSN.

You also may have problems with some Canadian bought Blurays. They are Region A while we are Region B. Not all Blurays are region locked though.

    which PS3 is it?
Slims have universal power supplies despite the labelling... Some of the earlier phat ones did not.
Lucky for me I've a Slim as I'm bringing mine to the US in the new year.

    Main issues will be
    - Region B (EU) versus A (NA) for Bluray as mentioned
    - Also Region 2 (EU) versus 1 (NA) for DVD
    - if you don't use HDMI you may run into issues with non-HD output as it will be PAL, and you will need to ensure your TV there can take it (or are you bringing the TV), e.g. playing a DVD over component/composite or s-video.

You can still connect to the EU store for DLC.. But as mentioned beware of buying DLC for games you purchase there as you MUST buy from the CA PSN Store. Which brings up another potential gotcha - if you need to purchase DLC on the EU PSN you will still need to be able to pay with a valid Irish credit card, or PSN card - luckily gamesnash's email dispatch of PSN cards is quite good ;)

Check out futureshop.ca for prices of new PS3s.

    Cheers for replies,

Its an 80gb Phat version. I will literally only be playing Fifa 11 and Skyrim so the rest of the things you mentioned shouldn't be a problem. I don't load anything and all my movies are on an external harddrive.

The main thing was just if there was anything else I need to do that I wasn't aware of.
