I am looking at changing my car as the title suggests. Has anyone got any thoughts/experience with the Honda? It's a 1.6 auto with leather. Its advertised at 5450 on carzone. Wondering how much the dealer will be looking for me to change or will they even be interested in mine because its a 2.2litre (ie harder to sell)

At a guess you would be crucified on the value on the BMW. Very quick look on carzone would suggest the BMW is worth more (maybe 6.5-7) (eg http://www.carzone.ie/search/BMW/3-Series/320-COUP/201145205468958/advert?channel=CARS ), but very few (or no) dealers will pay out cash on a trade in! Of course alternative is trying to find a private buyer, not sure how much market there is.

I'd sell the BMW privately, if you price it competitively I'm sure you would find a buyer. Then use the cash to buy the Honda, as well as that you should get a reasonable discount from the dealer being a cash buyer.

If your a cash buyer I'd avoid like the plague going near a dealer. If you know anything about cars go private. Xmas is coming and cash is king. I sold my Bm privately recently and am looking at the same typish of motor just to get me around. I ain't giving a k profit to a dealer for the privilege.

Mine is a saloon not a coupe so I would value it more around the 4k mark.

Well, you'd know your own car, but 4k seems a bit low even for a saloon?

    Usual carzone search

    Though then again

Had a look at the Honda today, jesus its a big step down. It was horribly basic and he wanted 2500 to change. I had to do everything in my power to not burst out laughing at him. I mean I see where he is coming from with the Bmw havin a 2.2 engine thats harder to shift but it was basically a ****ebox compared to mine.
I think i'll have to look at selling privately so!!

why do you want a stream $hit box over a decent beemer in the first place

Cost and the 7 seats would be handy as the family is growing. After today though I may try and budget to keep it. I really realised how straight and tidy the beemer is compared to whats on offer in my price/year range.

how much would you 'save' from moving to a cheaper family car...

might be a false economy and be better to keep your stylish well appointed beemer in the first place.

of course if you really really need a 7 seater its a different story.

a dealer will give you diddly squat and as everyone said you need to shift your bmw private might be easier said than done
