    This isn't correct.
Check the web page of the consumers organisation.

What am I looking for on the Consumers Association? And what is incorrect apart from my spelling.

    Look for consumer rights.

The legal guarantee time in the EU is 2 years - unless you bought something in the UK. I think it's only 1 year there. A receipt is not needed, a witness of the purchase or a bank/credit card statement will do - if demanded by the seller.
Simply insist on your right, speak to the shop manager.

With most electrical goods there is a date of manufacturing on the product. Either directly or coded. A product produced only let's say 2 or 3 years ago - which is very easy to proof - would logically still come under the consumer guarantee.

If the product had a faulty design the guarantee time is - in theory - endless.

    Have you contacted the shop?

Bring it back. The retailer should know as that's a fairly recent model. Serial number would also indicate it's a new kettle

Just ask the shop for a copy reciept.

    You're welcome, reggaeman.

Let us know how it worked out.

I went back to Shop to-day and explained my problem. Salesman said the water around here is very hard (Wexford) and that it was the lime scale that caused the problem. I said I had lots of Kettles over the years and never had one that leaked.
He said that’s what happens if you don’t clear the lime scale. I told him I checked with the consumer people and they said I should bring it back and to let them know how I got on. He then said he would have a chat with the Manager. He came back soon after and gave me a new one. So a good result and many thanks again for all your help. :)
