    hi all,

tarmac at home has moss growing on it

tarmac is approx 30yrs old and this year has been sprayed with roundup, mosco, wash from miliking machine and the latest cure salt

whats the best way to get rid of this moss

have had this spray armilatox recommended but at 25.99 a liter not cheap espically when a liter is only supposed to cover 100 square meters.

We make our own moss killer, its cheap, safe and is Ph neutral in about 5 hrs. We sell it to trade at €110.00 plus vat @ 21% for 20 lt concentrate which will do about 400 lt so mix is 1/20. For a five lt container is €35.00 plus vat and a 1 lt is €9.00 plus vat. It is only for hard surfaces and not for grass. Takes about 3 days to a week to kill moss.

That's interesting, Progardener. Is it iron sulphate based? Will it stain the tarmac like FeSO4 does? If not, where can it be bought?

We make it ourselves, its for professional use, so you will need all the safety equipment too. Its not iron based, so no stains. If you are Dublin based you can collect from our warehouse. Contact 018394444.

One of the best ways is to use washing powder. Buy the cheapest one and sprinkle on the moss. It will die off in 2-3 days.

What are the ingredients in this magic concoction?

Interesting suggestion & cost effective. Does it matter if it's bio or old-fashioned non-bio powder (Persil etc)?

Copper Sulphate also known as Bluestone kills moss, lasts for up to two years.

Is the organic treatment for potato blight and fire blight on apple,
    pear and cherry trees.

Can be bought at agri merchants, they'll give you a tub that costs approx
20 euro but will last for a 100 years when applied at 3% a litre once a year
to average 3 bed semi driveway.

could you pour it on with a watering can or would you need a knapsack

Good old fashioned bleach - cheap enough from Lidl. Dilute it about 5:1. End of moss!

Dissolve the amount you're going to use
in hot water and transfer it to a watering
can/sprayer. Watering can is easier and
    faster for around the house.

Zinc Sulphate known as white vittrol will also
do the trick, it's used in animal footbaths.

The Zinc is probably better for most people
as it comes in smaller quantities and can be
    bought in (most) pharmacies
    I bought 1kg before Christmas for €4.
