Im just wondering what people think? I sunk a lot of time into Blops so was wondering how this compares? Is it better/worse and if so why?

Personally I find it better, hit detection is better and less lag = more kills for me ;)

I don't think it's as good. It feels like an expansion pack for MW2, with most of the inherent flaws that it had carrying over. Spec Ops isn't a patch on zombies either.

Think ppl just have different opinions. I ended up hating Blops but wouldn't describe it as a bad game. Same with BF3 - they just frustrate me for some reason.
In saying that no game annoyed me more than MW2 but I thought it was fun and play/love it still. I'm loving MW2.5 but haven't played a lot of it yet.

The games are quite simply different, each having their own unique features.

Only played a few hours of MW3 MP yesterday, enjoyable and looking forward to learning more about the game and the finding my way around the maps.

I also really enjoyed BLOPS, just under 10 days game time. It's time to move onto MW3 now though.

In some ways, it's like comparing apples with oranges, a better comparison is:

    MW2 v MW3, or
    WAW v BLOPS

You do get more snipers qs though...

I like the game tbh. I dont think there is anything wrong with using the old MW2 engine. However, if you compare the step from going to WAW to Black Ops (technology wise) and then compare this to MW2 to MW3 I thought it will be better.

With this I mean, things that were very good in Black ops such as Theater mode, most maps textures, game modes (such as wager matches) etc were to be expected in MW3.

I agree with your man there it does feel more like an expansion of MW2 rather than a new game. Still like it though...

Than MW2? Yeah, right. Not that it's anything to complain about. It's much harder for them to kill you then you to kill him so I wouldn't regard that as a flaw anyway. It's the only gun you have to properly aim with and though the auto aim does a fair bit, snipers aren't nearly as easy to use as ARs and SMGs. I notice it's people who don't snipe who tend to complain about it. I've QSed in Battlefield (albeit BC2), died a lot of times doing it but it was still possible and I played very little of BF so it could have been possible to perfect it.

Ultimately I'd prefer somebody to be on my team that takes one second after they aim in to take a shot, not 10 like people seem to want everyone to do.

There is a lot of lag at the moment, which at some points made it very frustrating. But i know that's a growing problem as there servers were hit hard by the amount of people playing it.

I loved Blops, and still do.

Only played a few hours of MW3 but found it very fast, every body was rushing , including myself.
There are a few slight things that need to be adjusted
(slow animations when calling air support, throwing grenades that kinda thing)

Somebody needs to stick that in this forum. FYI I don't even snipe

Regarding the slow animations, it was very noticeable, I just assumed they actually did that on purpose. Is there not a Pro Perk there that enables you to do those things faster? Maybe I 'm wrong, alot to absorb in one day!

Not liking it so far.. but i think that's cos I dont know the maps !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,356 ✭✭✭NeVeR

just to add... there always seems to be someone sneaking up behind you.. doesn't matter what map there's always 3-4 ways in and out. ( i'm not a camper but just noticed that )

No thank God for that but still, it is pretty easy, I even picked up a sniper rifle and tried it and found it to be easier than on mw2. But like you said I dont really snipe, or should I say qs that much, or maybe is because I hate being thrown into a lobbie where is full of snipers and you can't even take a step without being qs...

If you havent seen any qs try S&D... after school hours... its like a plague!!! :)

    Perk Slot 2

    Quickdraw / Quickdraw Pro

quickdraw-perk-2.jpgAllows you to aim down the sight 50% faster than normal. Quickdraw is ideal for quick-scoping with Sniper Rifles.

Pro Ability: Allows you to recover from equipment and grenade usage faster.

one of the pro perks makes you throw grenades quicker, I think its quick draw pro, I find its way to fast then though, killed myself a few times lobbing a semtex too quickly :pac:

I must say that I am really enjoying it. It is great fun and I can drop shot again woo.

I have noticed that quick scoping is back with a vengeance although from my 6 hours in game time yesterday and like 110 games I only saw 3 of which one was decent.

During a game of search I had two of them on my team one was good one was terrible. I went like 14 and 4 with my Pp90m1 which is a beast of a gun btw. The good qs'r went 4 and 6 and the rubbish one went 1 and 6 both of them got a lot of hitmarkers which didn't happen in mw2.

Must say kill confirmed is my new favourite game. It can be absolutely mental.

em, you seem to be saying that every time you get killed by a sniper it's because they quickscoped you, it's not. They are more than likely looking down the scope, see you and then shoot.

Do people even know what quickscoping is before they start moaning about it ffs?

Trust me I know what qs is. And I dont play FFS. I still remember some time ago some people use to say QS wasnt possible and that it was just that I couldnt see the scope aiming... oh well

And as you can see but the post previous to your post it quite common in this game... couldnt care less... if I find it too annoying I just leave. Same as if I join a lobbie full of noobtubers... but I havent come across that yet..

think you mean FFA (free for all)

although FFS would be an interesting game mode, god knows I've shouted that many a time :pac:

Ha cheers guys, i'd say they did that on purpose then. Still getting used to the perks and what not

MW3 is much better imho. Granted I've only played it for about 2 hours, but so far it wins hands down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23 pulled pubes

This game in my opinion is already outdated the sound of explosions and gunfire is awful, character movement is a joke. Black ops had its problems but seems like a much fresher game, I'm liking the survivor and missions games but zombies in my opinion is more fun and also is 4 player co-op. I think the C.O.D franchise is finished and heads will probably roll, just my opinion but in the words of Eric cartman MW3 sucks balls

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,732 ✭✭✭Magill

Not really ready to say which is the best because no doubt patches will come (Maybe ??) but there are a few things that they dropped the ball on...

Theatre mode is far better in blops with the exception of how the games are stored (On the console in MW3 as opposed to online in blops)... donno why they didn't just copy it from treyarch, they're suppose to be on the same side !!

The hit reg felt better on blops for me... seems to get a kill when you don't even hit someone in MW3 quite a bit.. but i'll put that down as lag for now.

Voice chat on the PS3 is horrible compared to blops, like MW2 was.

    Spawns are much worse also.

I do like the game.. however im not sure if i'll like it as much as blops.

The weapon kill time and the recoil are really the two big differences from MW3 to BLOPS. MW3 is definitely more casual friendly cause of the fact that it takes 2-3 bullets to kill someone and the recoil is close to nonexistent. Thus its easier for people that arnt so good at the game to do well.

The maps are also different. BLOPS had alot of long line of sight routes and then flanking routes around said areas. On the other hand most of the maps in MW3 are like a maze favoring close quarter combat.

BLOPS is still my favourite CoD to date, but im liking this alot more than MW2 to say the least

Seems like a rushed out title to make some money so they can fund there next "big Project" me thinks tho

as mw2 turn bf bc 2/ bf 3 player / mw3 player its entertaing which is the important part..

This hit the nail on the head in my opinion

Its nearly like COD had to release a new game to combat the market share BF3 would have grabbed if it was the only "big" FPS released this autumn

Posted my first few days impression over on the clan forums, so i'll paste here too.

Mixed feelings about it for me.

I like the game in general, its more balanced than MW2 and killstreaks don't seem to be anywhere near as prominent as they were in MW2 or BLOPs (Its early days on this tho) which is great.

Maps are all decent but nothing instantly sticks out as a great map yet.. probably a few growers in there i guess. One problem with the map design is that everything is very close, there isn't as much open space so if your sniping you'll pretty much always be at a disadvantage.. which leads to the perceived problem that is quickscoping... its absolutely an essiental part of sniping when the map design is like this... so haters... keep on hating. Spawning also doesn't help the tight map design as its defo worse than BLOPS + MW2.

Guns are decent, AR/Snipers and SMG's all seem to be as good as they should. Haven't tried LMG's but shotguns are pretty weak, should be as good as they were in MW2... hopefully they patch that.

Theatre mode is pretty **** compared to blops, it does have one advantage tho in that it saves the demo files onto your hard drive, so i don't think we'll have the same problems of games going missing or being cut short like in blops.

The new gametypes are great, adds a lot of fun into the standard TDM. Both are awesome in a party. Its a shame they dropped the ball with wagermatches tho, really don't understand why they didn't have them in the standard playlist, even if they're not a "wager"... just add some xp in there or even just have matchmaking and no xp... shame this.

Im not sure if its because of the opening week's expected lag but i think blops and mw2 had better hit reg than this aswel, apparently they rehashed a lot of CoD4's code.. and it tells as the games hitboxes feel much more like CoD4 than MW2 (Which.. for consoles is a bad thing IMO). Match Making is pretty horrible atm, but host migration defo feels improved as i've yet to be disconnected once ingame.

I've only played a couple of games of survival mode in solo.. but it was really good, i think i'd enjoy it moreso than zombies, shame they capped it at 2 players tho.. but i think that in the long run its better that way as it'll keep it from getting to complicated. Im sure spec op's is good aswel, only played the training course mission atm tho.

SP doesn't interest me when it comes to games like CoD + BF, so... whatever...

I'd give it a 8/10 for the MP atm, it could go up if IW actually bother to patch some of the issues.
