As a newly appointed rep to our local school's Board of Management, I would like to clarify the position of board members re paid work carried out for the school.
I understand that a Board member may not be paid by the Board for carrying out Board duties, but what is the position regarding other duties which are normally paid for by the Board?
For example, if a Board member wished to undertake the position of caretaker can he/she be paid by the Board for this role?
    All advice greatly appreciated!

BOARDS OF MANAGEMENT OF NATIONAL SCHOOLS CONSTITUTION OF BOARDS AND RULES OF PROCEDURE 2011:

    3, (b), (iv)-

"It is also a requirement that a person, other than the Principal Teacher or, where it arises, the elected teacher nominee, who is employed for the purposes of the school may not be appointed to nor be a member of the Board of Management."

i wouldn't think it'd be possible im afraid. if you were to suggest you be employed as a caretaker for the school, then you wouldn't be able to participate as a member of the board of management.
