I read on the Examiner yesterday that NAMA are selling Fota & looking for around €20 Euro. Who do you think will buy it!

It would be interesting to see what the split is between course and hotel. I believe the course is doing OK. It always seems busy on the odd occasion I'm there. The new 9 were probably not a great idea. They are not bad but suffer in comparison with the original 18 which is a fine course. I guess it adds a lot to the maintenance bill and not a lot to the club.

I guess it's biggest attraction is the fact that it is one of the (if not the) best course in the Cork area - only Cork Golf Club compares. Strange that the quality of Cork golf courses is so poor, relative to the rest of the country. It must be the only coastal county in Ireland without a links.

Played Fota at the weekend, it is a fine course.... played on the Deerpark myself and you are right the new 9 doesnt measure up to that, but the whole feeling around the golf club for me is excellent. Other course like CGC and Douglas could learn lessons from the more 'relaxed' feel. Does Old Head not qualify as a Links course?

20m looks cheap for the amount of land and a busy golf course and a busy hotel. I think the issue is the houses on the site and the (presumably) debt that goes with them..

Heard idle chat that John Fleming has served his bankrupcy timeout this week in the UK and intends making a play to buy Fota back . Seems unbelievable to me but you d never know.
