Buying an iPad in Duty Free?

This is an unusual one, I will be travelling to Malaysia next spring and am thinking of getting an iPad, I haven't really decided on which one yet though.

Has anyone here bought an iPad in Duty Free? I bought an iPod touch for a friend last year when I was down in Sydney and bought it at DutyFree when flying back to LA, I can't remember but she said it saved her something like €50-€60 on the Irish price. So there must be a saving.

I will also probably cross over to Borneo and from my understanding Brunei has no VAT/GST so I might pick up one up there if I fail at Duty Free.

Any pitfalls should I beware of, as I'd be buying as Asian model I'd hope to be able to set it to English and in there an International Warranty?

I bought a Siemens cordless phone two years ago in Saturn Hansa in Munich and it only has German menus, so know I now most of the german words for missed call, last dialled etc!! I want to avoid this situation for sure!

I took a look at the Apple Malaysia website and it looks like the 3G iPad sold there is compatible with the networks here, it lists UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) so will work in the US and Europe.

With the Wi-Fi only model you get 802.11 a/b/g/n so WW compatibility.

http://store.apple.com/my/browse/home/shop_ipad/family/ipad/select Click on 'Tech Specs' on the right

    Warranty is international.
