came across this just now when went to have a look at the Luas site:

Interesting I thought, lets have a look at the FAQ to see what the story is.
What a joke, FAQ has nothing on will my bike be secure, do platform cameras cover the area, is it kept dry, what happens if it's gone when I get back.

You know, important stuff that would make you consider using it... Instead they've questions like this gem:
Question 6 - How will I deal with the rain?

You just need to have the right kit for the weather and stay safe.

    Wear your helmet.
    Wear comfortable waterproof shoes.
Always have high visibility clothing so other road users can see you easily.
Wear a waterproof jacket and leggings with vents so you don’t sweat.
Exercise extra caution on the roads.
Put a shower cap over to saddle to keep it dry.
I'd love to know what any of these have to do with dealing with rain tbh
Question 9 - How do I stay safe?
    ...
Use cycle lanes at all times when available.
lol, whoever wrote this has obviously never cycled in Dublin in their lives...

To me, the kind of nonsense posted in that FAQ is one reason people won't go cycling, you need all of this extra equipment and it's so dangerous you all this high vis crap and must get off the dangerous roads wherever possible. It really does baffle me that so much effort has to be put iinto writing down an FAQ that's all either common sense or plainly wrong instead of letting people get on with the business of cycling and providing them with actual useful info, like how safe their bike is if left there or what they are supposed to do when the very small numbers of racks are full every morning when they turn up...

Pretty standard stuff from official organisations in Ireland. Quite depressing. Get out of the way and dress like a cross between a stuntman and a binman.

yeah I have noticed them promoting there cycle + Luas campaign for a while. As a regular user it has annoyed me a bit as the completely ignore issues around bike security. In my experience (1st hand and witnessing others) they simply don't care about it.. plus general fud like the above.. Been wanting to write to them, but never quite found the time (yet I can moan on a public forum...) maybe tomorrow!

You should put those questions to them and see what they do. They might surprise you.
