Finlux MPEG4 Saorview Box in Harvey Normans

I was in Harvey Normans in Limerick this evening and I saw this Finlux Saorview Box with MPEG4 written on the box.
I thought all Saorview Boxes had to be MPEG5 and I said this to the salesman who descended on me.He went on to tell me that HN had paid €49K to get it approved and that it would perfectly.
Will this box work for text after the analogue system goes down next year and for any future Saorview channels.

MPEG-4 for video decoding, MHEG-5 for interactive services such as digital teletext. Saorview approved receivers do both. No such thing as MPEG5.

Finlux are Saorview approved - http://www.saorview.ie/products-retailers/saorview-approved-product-listings/finlux-products/

Thanks for that.So do I take it then that this box, given that its Saorview approved will do MPEG-5 even though its not written in the specs.

Not MPEG-5. All Saorview approved receivers are MHEG-5 by default.

Is it true to say then that not all MPEG-4 boxes are MPEG-5 by default unless they are Saorview approved.

    No such standard as MPEG-5.

OK. Then will any MPEG-4 box do the interactive services even if its not Saorview approved.

Only Saorview approved receivers are guaranteed to work with Saorview interactive services. Non approved receivers may or may not.

I have 2 non approved Sony TVs, one works with MHEG-5 digital text the other doesn't.

Thanks for all the prompt replies and info, things are a little clearer now.
I always thought MPEG-5 was a standard having seen it mentioned so many times on this forum.

MPEG-5 is occasionally confused with MHEG-5 here on the forum.

Yes,that was the mistake I was making all along.
Must learn to read things properly in future.
As an aside, from what you tell me, is it likely that there will be a raft of non approved boxes on the market in the next 12 months.

There's a raft of them around as it is. Have a good read of the Stickies in the Terrestial and Satellite forums to get a picture of what is currently available.
