    Hi

MY wife is originally from india and travelling to india next week via heathrow.

despite my best efforts to calm her and saying its easy to get from terminal 1 to terminal 3 she still insists i find out all the information.

    What are her options?

Ive told her its a walk of about 15 minutes is the easiest way and to just follow signs for Flight onnections Terminal 3

Also is there a bus she can get without having to come out of security from T1?

also, she and the kids have an irish passport so immigration isn't an issue.

dont understand why she is so tense about it

I can, first time in a big airport like Heathrow can be nerve-wracking.

From memory, all the termini are interconnected via the Tube underground.

If she's flying with Aer Lingus to LHR and it's a connection all on one ticket, bags will go through automatically etc. I believe that there is an airside connection. I flew with Aer Lingus yesterday and there was something in the magazine saying that most passengers in LHR must disembark through the front doors whereas anyone with a connection all on one ticket is to go out the back door of the plane, presumably to a bus.

If bags are checked through to the final airport, they just stay on the aer lingus plane and take the provided bus to the transfer area - very easy. The stewards will mention this when the plane gets into Heathrow. Once the bus reaches the transfer area she gets another bus to T3, its all very clearly signposted. You don't need boarding passes either - they can be collected in the transfer area of T3. Quicker and easier than exiting and going the other way which is:

If she can't check bags through, get off the plane, collect bags and simply follow the signs for T3 - she'll need to go down to the underground area and follow the signs, it only takes about 15 minutes. Will need to go through security etc again which'll take a bit longer, but shouldn't be a problem provided she has enough transfer time.
