Postgrad grant for mature students

I'm just about to finish my undergrad this year and badly want to do a masters.
Problem is that I'm broke, as are my parents. My parents income is just over the limit although they have a mortgage and 5 kids , all of whom are in education. I lived at home during my undergrad and worked a part time job to support myself.

I'm unable to afford a masters right now and my parents income means I didn't get the grant. Basically, there's no way we can afford the €6k plus for a masters for me.
I'll be 23 in May. I'm wondering if I take a year out and work fulltime, will I be a mature student in 2013?
If so, if I live independently for a year, would I then be able to apply for the grant to cover tuition fees?

    Any help is appreciated.

No - you would have to be living independently for three years to change your status from dependent mature student to independent mature student. You would be considered a mature student in 2013 but you would be considered as an "independent mature student" unless there is a break of at least 3 years in your study so you would still be assessed on your parents income

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Just incase anyone is browsing there will be no grants for post grads full stop,
So I'm considering working and saving for one or going abroad.

this is not true - no decisions have been made on postgrad grants yet.
