    Hi folks,

Just wondering if this is an ok price - €450 for timing belt and water pump on a 07 VW Passat 1.7 diesel. That includes parts and labour in a VW garage and 2 years warranty.

Have no clue so said Id ask here before sending in the car :)

I assume you mean a 1.9 diesel? It is a pretty good price for a main dealer but you will get the same genuine VW parts supplied and fitted with the same warranty for substantially less at an independent garage.

George is your man if you're anyway close to him. I'd drive an hour to him before going to most other indy's.

George Dalton. He's the go-to guy on Vagdrivers and has done a good bit of work for me.

Less than 450 at an indy? I'm intrigued. What's the ball park figure you'd expect George?

He is based in portlaoise. He is a top man in fairness. I think he charges 350 iirc.

€350 would be the normal for those, using the correct tools/manufacturer methods.

I would say that €450 is a decent price for a dealer though but if you get a decent indy there is no difference is quality/workmanship etc

As above we are near Portlaoise in Co Laois and the price on these is €350 using genuine VW parts.
