    HI All,

I previously had issues with pressure dropping on a glow worm 18si boiler, we had the prv replaced and all seemed well, the boiler is regularly serviced but this week, more problems.

We turned back on the rads using the lever in the hot press as I had all the trv's set on the rads. I decided the other day it wasn't cold enough for the bedroom rads to be on and switched them off using the lever in the hotpress, I turned back on other evening and yesterday pressure dropped to 0.6bar. I repressurised the system to 1.2bar, checked the pipe out the side of house and there was water dripping from it. When the heating clicked off the pressure was at 1.5 and gradually fell back to 0.8, that held overnight and the heat came on a 6.00am for an hour. at lunchtime the pressure gauge read 0.8bar but by 3.00pm its dropped to 0.6. Checked the pipe outside and a drip sitting in it.
I have the boiler booked for service next week, is this going to cost me a fortune?????

I have always got the best advise from you all here,
    Thanks in advance,
    Shellyb :)

It depends. It sounds like the safety valve has gone and it will need to be established as to why.

Why are you leaving it till its serviced. I would get it fixed now.

Just check your service chap is registered.

Because your heating will go off if it has not already and your water wont heat if your relying on gas to heat it...

It has certainly served you well:D:D. It all depends. Was your heating system looked after well or was it left to it's own devises over the years? What gives you the opinion it's not what it used to be? A few more details would be nice.

it is a firebird, it was serviced about every second year, i just find that the heat and hot water is not as good as it used to be, i have bled the radiators, it has one of those red ball expansion tanks that sits near boiler, i do think it has lost its power, and it is a waste of money,

Has your heating system ever been cleaned (I mean powerflushed not someone putting a hose on to it) It's possible that's all it needs.

no, is that a big job

It's not a big job, just time consuming. It involves putting a machine onto your system and chemically cleaning it. It removes scale and sludge and restores your system to near new.

all the downstairs radiators are warm at top but cold at bottom, we are also thinking of replacing the sitting room dining, kitchen and bathroom radiators, so which radiators have the better output
