650mm in an Aug A3, decreases performance?

    Heya,

I've been doing a lot of reading for both sides of the argument, for and against 650mm in an aug, and I just can't decide. I would love to have it for some reason, and add a mock silencer or something similar, but my problem lies in performance. A lot of people are saying you would lose both accuracy and fps.

I know I would need a bore-up kit of some kind, has anyone any ideas on whether this would decrease the performance of the gun. Or maybe someone has added a 650 to their AEG that had a smaller stock and so has experience upgrading the length and has some ideas/opinions. Any input would be great :)

Provided your gearbox is producing the correct volume of air for the barrel length, you will NOT lose accuracy or FPS. I don't know where that idea comes from...you will gain a greater shot-to-shot consistency, and if your gun doesn't have a tightbore already, you'll get an increase in FPS.

If your GB is not prepared for the extra barrel length, all you need is a new Cylinder, Cylinder head, piston head and perhaps a new air nozzle. Basically anything you can do to increase the volume of air.

From what i believe, there will be a loss in fps(pressure behind the bb) when the volume of air created by the piston pushing forward through the cylinder of the gearbox is less than the volume capacity of the barrel. The longer the barrel the more capacity it will hold thus decreasing of pressure behind the bb on it's exit.

    Or something to that effect.

PS- For said said aeg i think you will have to get a bore-up kit to increase volume of air produced for that barrel length. Again, i am open to correction though.

Thanks guys, I had seen mentioned that a bore-up kit would be needed, but others said it still wouldn't be enough. I have no problem changing the pistons and cylinder etc, I just want to know it wouldn't be a waste before I do it ;)

I was thinking of a 650mm 6.03mm. There isn't a tightbore in it already, everything is stock. Just starting to upgrade now.

Bore up will increase air volume but they will normally be used for high fps set ups or when using ported cylinders for high rof but you still need a good air volume.

With 1 joule tbh there is normally not a need for them, a non ported cylinder will provide you with enough for what you need

That's probably where the idea came from then, people thinking that with 1joule there wouldn't be the required power behind it. but you think that it would be fine yeah?
