Installing a Car Radio

    Hey Folks,

Just another quick question. I bought a radio to put into the Micra but it needs to be rewired. Power is there but it's not wired correctly. Do I need a special tool to remove the wires from the adapter so I can reposition them to be in line with the cars wiring?

Hmnn I bought a JVC radio and it came with the ISO? connector. So there are different versions? Can I buy a suitable one?

Your JVC radio probably came with a standard ISO to JVC connection. JVC have their own proprietary connection for their equipment.

Your problem lies in that your nissan is probably from an era before the connections became standardised. Ebay is your friend in order to source a converter to change your cars connection to ISO.

If the ISO connector from the JVC connected to the cars ISO connector there should be very little wrong. However I didn't think that nissan supplied an ISO connector for the stereo but I might be wrong. The only issue I have seen with ISO is the the German cars usually had the switched (red) and now switched (yellow) reversed. So the stereo would power up but the stations would be lost every time you powered off. Note the ISO has 2 blocks one for speakers, usually fully populated and have colours like purple and grey .The other is for the power and control signals such as lights, will always have a red black yellow ,and usually a blue and orange.

OK, emm..... does this make sense to anyone? The top connections are coming out from inside the car. They have a yellow plug which is connected into a black plug/socket. This set of wires ends in two white sockets and the details of these are the bottom row on the image above.

The black cable in the 'JVC' images is the ISO connector that came with the new radio.

The radio powers up but it says it's wired incorrectly.

Got this sorted thanks to the Nissan doctor. Having a working radio is fantastic.
