Hello all, just wondering if anyone has come across Fr. Robert Spitzer's talks about evidence for God's existence?

    http://www.magisreasonfaith.org/library/videos/

Should be of interest to anyone with an interest in physics/cosmology.

    God bless, Noel.

Thanks. From Module 1, Ft. Spitzer well explains these concepts.

I find the entrophy argument very compelling. If the universe is a ping-pong ball bouncing on a table, you can't expect it to keep bouncing forever. Every system has to arrive eventually at a steady, max entrophy state.

I found the FAQ page very readable. The Jesuits are some boys. Fr James Martin is another writer whose work is very accessible.

    Thanks!

Thanks Kelly1, I'm going to have a listen to it now...and then hit the hay..

Many modern day apologists and writers develop and build on St. Thomas Aquinas arguements - He was a brilliant mind, especially for the period, can't help but admire him. I love C.S. Lewis too for a more modern day approach - I'll listen with interest to Fr. Robert

Interesting. The first module deals with Hawkins theory that the universe could come into existence from nothing. That an explosion of what we call 'material' filled a vacuum and created the universe and all it's laws of physics were put in motion in a moment - Or rather, that current theoretical physics says that it can happen by extending on the quantum makeup of the universe, and extending them out to quantise gravity...That's true! It just hasn't been done yet...

He's quite right that it had to start somewhere though, whether you call it a graviton particle or branes colliding etc. and so on - However the world of physics imo is quite right in looking for the natural answer, and seeking out further understanding..

He's basically saying that the universe 'began' - I don't think that Hawkins is opposing him on this...One claims in faith what is beyond, the other claims knowledge and proposes theories on what is beyond 'the beginning', but neither actually poses a threat. I don't 'think' Dawkins meant harm or insult to faith, I think he was just speculating on greater understanding from known phenomena and the theory of everything..... the Holy Grail of Physics.
