    Does anyone still use these?

Even more to the point; how many people still have a landline phone?

Outside of shelter/pissing in, the humble phone boxes day is gone I fear!

The joy of the man below will be lost on future generations.

That terrible film with Colin Farrell put me off phone boxes for life. They can rust in hell!

That was the height of the phone boxes popularity; lead actor in a feature film.

I saw a woman taking a photo of her son (presumably) posing while pretending to make a call from the phone outside the Kingfisher on Parnell Street last week. Are public phones that rare now that sightings of them are to be recorded?

I thought this thread was going to be about the box your mobile phone comes in.

Yep...would probably use them more if they put in taps and a hand dryer.

I saw a guy smoking crack in a phonebox on Abbey Street last year at about half nine in the morning so they're still getting some use.

Remember the ones that would ring before you put the money into them? Jesus I pissed my mates auld fella off something serious when he was working nights. That's what he got for ratting us out for drinking.

There was a scam going around with those. People would set up premium number lines and then do the rounds of pubs that had those phones. They'd ring through to the number and then have an imaginary conversation for a few minutes clocking up a couple of quid a minute without putting in any coins. The pub would be left to foot the price of it in the end.

Left my phone at home two weeks ago and had to make a call from a phone box in the city centre... I actually felt like I had stepped back in time! Mind you, the price of it was definitely from the present, €1 for 2mins talk time!! The smell of wee was the same though.

Very handy for the odd empty headed drunk to jump through or take his anger out on. Hey, they even replace the glass for you so you can bash it the following weekend too!

I dont have a mobile myself, but I still try to avoid public pay-phones as they are pretty disgusting. Last time I had to use one was May/June, smell of whiskey off the reciever.
