Windows CE - avoid in a big way. spend a bit more and buy a tablet - hmv were (maybe still are) doing a reasonable Archos table for 149 euro. search bargain alerts thread.

Even for a child who just wants to chat a little on Facebook?

I know it's not a "proper" netbook, but what makes it such a "heap"?

Got a 10.1 inch one for my parents. It works fine for what they want basic web surfing.
It will also send emails .

    It will surf the internet.:)

    But you tube videos no.:(
If flash based websites is a must have get a higher spec net book than this.

It doesn't run Windows in a traditional sense. It runs Windows CE which is a disaster of an operating system. I would doubt if it would run facebook properly being honest. It would just be a disappointment.

As said above, a tablet should do the trick if your budget can stretch a bit. Hell, you can buy a real netbook for 200 quid these days. I know that's double the original price, but still.

These things have been on sale for years at that price, with no increase in performance. I'd avoid like the plague. You're mobile phone would be better than it.

I thought the Android system allowed this (excuse my ignorance)

No. Not necessarily. Certain versions of Android can run flash, and it depends on the hardware. This does not meet the requirements.

OK, thanks for your help, I kind of figured the price was too good to be true

Please don't drag up old threads.

The one you have linked is not a laptop/netbook/mini netbook.

    It does not run Windows.

It's expensive and about as awful as you can get as far as computing devices go.

Anyway, I think I've pretty much summed it up here, but if you want to ask more questions start a new thread.
