The important thing is to register with the nearest social welfare office as being unemployed and seeking work, as soon as you can after returning. This way you start getting credits and the countdown to dole starts. Then, the good news, the health board pays supplementary welfare to you on behalf of social welfare, while you wait for dole, so get down to local health centre with copy of claim for dole as soon as you can, ie the day or day after you apply for dole.
    Good luck.
