    00 1.0 Polo with powersteering.

    You can't go wrong.

Also, it'll be easier sell when the time comes to move on to a bigger car.

    Something like this,

This is true. But, to buy a 00 Yaris over a Polo you could easily pay an extra 4-500 euro. You would buy alot of reliability for that much on such a small, old car.

Realistically you're looking at some where like 2,000- 2,500 euro. And then when you pass your test 6 months in, about 300 ish euro back off that.

Some company's do different deals, so you're better off sitting down and ringing around places like Quinn Direct, Axa etc. Some do student policys.

Nothing wrong with the ones without power steering. ;)

Drove 170 miles yesterday in my 999cc one. Grand going! :D Can't recommend them enough/ :)

Indeed there isn't but, for the extra few bob and looking long term at resale, i'd buy one with powersteering. I started off in one without powersteering.

It's very difficult to give an accuarte price on insurance. This year, RSA charged a couple of hundred less than AXA as far as I remember, who were cheapest by far the previous year. Pure luck getting that quote first, and I'm pretty sure it was the cheapest by far.

As is always said on here, spend a day ringing around every place in the phonebook. You'll pull your hair out, but you'll save for sure.

I would also recommend a Polo, well put together, 999ccs and cheap to insure, can't really go wrong with one when your'e that age :)

BMW/Sauber Formula 1 car? Might not be fast enough for you though :D

Seriously though, stick with 1L. You're going to need to give a budget though.

ford fiesta ..cheap car, cheap to insure, cheap to run and cheap parts.. they aren't rally cars but some models you get about 73hp which is not bad.
