The last piece of the puzzle...

Hope you don't mind me making a thread for this one, just I reached a bit of a milestone today so wanted to share it with fellow collectors. :)

Today this arrived in the post:

    Fy14t.jpg

It's symbolic to me because it marks the end of many months of searching, saving up and scouring all the corners of the Internet to find the final piece of my Namco Museum collection box.

Sure, there's millions of these on eBay but a) they command silly prices and b) most are in poor to good condition, are 'Best' editions or are simply not complete with spine cards and reg cards.

Finally I got the last piece. Volume 1 was incredibly difficult to source in good nick. Worse still was finding the volume controller that goes with Volume 2. I managed to find one, boxed, complete and with it's original receipt!

I'm really pleased I managed to find all the pieces and bring them together. Everything has SC-OCD and RC-OCD and all are original first run prints and not 'Best' editions.

Oh, and another quick point. I'm trying to get a complete PAL collection too, I only need Volume 4 now for the full set. If you see a copy around let me know! I have the GBA edition too, I'm trying to collect all the releases across all platforms. I've a long way to go to reach that goal if it was as tough as this mission was!

It's taken me a long time to finally reach this stage so I just wanted to show it off to you lot who I know love these old games as much as I do. :)

I think you must be a senior counsel in some tribunal somewhere on 5k a day to be able to afford all this stuff! Fair play to you though, you are an animal for the collecting ;)

No not really, I just work a lot and save my funds (not knowing too many people in Ireland yet to hit the scoops with kind of helps). Having an understanding wife helps too! ;)

Chuffed to have this box set finished though. It took a lot of effort to find everything 'just so'. I don't really collect that much really as I don't buy anything and everything and what I do buy gets played at least once.

I just collect shooting games, Puyo Puyo and Bomberman mainly. Then the curios like Namco Museum. Oh and shooting games. :D

I'm toying with the idea of collecting laserdiscs though now I've spotted that Darius Gaiden one. Could be dangerous territory I'm treading there... :pac:

Your pics of games are ways great but they are lacking something to make them epic.

Ah now that's more my cup of tea.

    Pity weren't a mug though.

Seriously though you must have an over all excellent collection.

Cheers mate, stick to your guns with the NTSC-J if that is what you want to collect. Unless it's RPG's which is pretty much pointless (as lovely as the packaging is).

You can always find a good deal too. Proof is in this Namco collection. I literally sourced each one from pretty much every corner of the globe. As others reiterate on this forum, with a bit of elbow grease you will find what you want at a sensible price in the end though. Which for me anyway is what makes a set like this so rewarding.

Plus most of the games are ace. :)

I will. Slowly making the switch to buying the Jap counterparts of PAL games. Not saying I won't pass up anything nice I come across if it's not Jap though!

He needs to take the porno shoot approach like I did in the past (and got stick for! :pac:) with my purple velvet sheets.

    Such as this -

    And this...oooh...so dirty...

    DSC_0070.jpg

Or maybe try a bit of red. Oooh la la -

    DSC_0091-1.jpg

    Etc.

Vaseline on the lens also helps :pac:

Back on topic, well done on the Namco collection dude!

What's the story with the volume controller? (other than obviously raising the volume!)

Thanks, though in fairness I think we can all agree that kudos belongs to young Steven Emmanuelle Ulysees SI and his two copies of Darius Alpha and an Apple I! :)

Or Retr0gamer and his NES. Or o1s1n and his signed Terminator skull head thing signed by yer man. Or Ciderman and his copy of Metal Slug X I'm seriously going to pinch off him sooner or later. Or Atavan Halen and his NTSC-J Famicom. Or Andrew76 and his Raiden PCB's. Or Enternow and his exospherically sexual modded consoles. Or Mr. Vengence and his awesome AES collection. Or you and your Mr. Men mug.

Everyone's collection is ace. That's the best part.

...even if Steven Emmanuelle Ulysees SI does have two copies of Darius Alpha. :(

That Blazing Star photo belongs in an 'adult art magazine'.

The volume controller was sold to compliment the games featured on Volume 2 of the collection. It doesn't actually control sound, so it's not a 'volume' controller. Think of it more like the old Atari dial controllers with the extra buttons.

It was designed by Namco for the collection to keep the games authentic feel. You can also use the NegCon controller (which I have too but it's unboxed) on Volume 1 too.

Hahaha! Ah, I am a moron. 'Volume' as in 'volume 2', not 'volume' as in 'sound'. I think it's probably time for me to go to bed :o

In fairness I thought it was the same thing, literally a volume controller. Alas no!

It's a great little controller though, definitely adds to the authenticity factor. Little touches like that are great to see from the likes of Namco, and they don't charge a jillion quid like Cave do with their 'customer' PCB sets.
