number on the shutter

hi.ive just bought a seconf hand canon 400 d and would like to know how to find out how many pictures were taken with it previously,seller reckons a few thousand...is there anyway for the camera to tell you...looked in the manual and couldnt find anything

One way of checking :

If you have never reset the counter... and set to be sequential/continuous (vs reset with new card).

Frames are 0-999 and folders are thousands after that

101 would be 1000-1999, and
111 Would be 10,000 to 10,999, etc

But its not 100% acurate as it could of been reset by a previous owner, or by the factory after test shots.

Do you have a Digic III or IV image processor? If so, this should work.

This one will work with the 40D, 50D, 450D (XSI), and the 1000D (XS). It may also work with others that have Digic III or IV image processors.
