Advice on buying a laptop

    Hi guys.
    I want to purchase a new lap top.
    Is there any brands I should stay away from or does it make a huge difference? I heard bad things about dell. I am thinking of a vaio or samsung..I don't really have the cash for a mac

    Is there any features the lap top should have? I 3'processor? I don't know the difference between these and dual cores etc..

    My budget would be around E600.. I'll be mainly using it for college work, internet browsing, e mail, and word processing. Maybe a bit of music, tv downloading..

    Any recommendations would be great thanks.
