How do I start DJing and/or producing electronic music?

    Hey!

    I'm dying to start DJing/producing electronic music and was wondering what's the best way to get started? I listen to a vast range of music and don't like 'mainstream' music whatsoever, any advice on these questions would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. :-)

    1) Should I pay for lessons or teach myself through the internet and if I use the internet what websites/programs would be best to use?

    2) Do I need to buy any equipment or is a laptop enough to get started?
