    I want a Takamine EG531sc or something very close. (that's electric/acoustic)
What are the main shops that would have a good selection or that might order that particular model?
I might buy one second hand also if there was one available.
    thanks

You could try Modern Music down in The Cornstore in Middle Street.
Also Back To Music near Sally Longs. Don't think there is a second hand music store for instruments in Galway.

Buy & Sell/Done Deal on the Internet maybe?

    Galway -> Instruments.
    Try www.adverts.ie too.

Modern Music on Middle Street are good guys. Also check with Maloney Music on High Street. Mainly trad stuff but sell Taylor. 114 is similar price to the Tak you mentioned (€700ish?) and tbh I prefer the sound of a Taylor alot.
Also try Clareen Banjos. Tom Cussen makes banjos but sells guitars, mandolins etc. He has Canadian made Seagulls, again quality and around the same money give or take.
Otherwise have a day out in Dublin.

Definitely go with Modern Music. They are by far the best music shop in Galway city.

thanks I gave them a ring. It isn't in stock but they will get back again to me tomorow as the rep is off today.

If anyone has a Takamine that is as good or better than the EG531sc I would be as happy to buy it second hand.

Or even if they know whether that model is available new in Ireland would be a help.

By the way ,are these guitars a lot cheaper in the States and might it make sense to order them online even with the delivery costs ?

    http://www.thomann.de/ie/takamine_eg531sc.htm

Not sure if that's the right colour but it's a good price and free shipping, if you want to go down the online route.

    thanks
well that is a EG531SSC and what I have actually played is a EG531SC . I have tried to post to the Takamine forum to ask what is the difference (I think the one you found is a bit cheaper) but it is one of those sites where you don't join immediately and I am still waiting.
It seems to me that all the EG531SC s (on Ebay anyway) are in USA and it seems to me that it would be cheaper getting one from there even allowing for shipping ,tax and VAT ...

    I have emailed Thomann.de now

got a reply and it is the same Guitar (it did look identical).

wonder would there be a point in ordering from there US if it was 100 euro less (after VAT ,tax )?
