Xbox Controller for PC...You Know for Skyrim

Hey all, I'm just looking for advice, I have an xbox controller and have a one of these connections - Is there anyway to connect the controller to my PC and get it too work for gaming? Cheers in advance

For some reason I have it in my head that only the wired 360 controllers work with a PC. Don't know where I got that from but that's my gut on it.
