Ok, I have a few questions so bare with me and if you can only answer one question than thank you

Firstly what is the best option for free view box for channels ??

Secondly, I need a 4 way lnb for running to 4 rooms, best options?

Thirdly. Best dish ? One that doesn't rust or catch the wind ??

Fourth. Can I get rte tv3 etc for free on any freeview option, in other words what box if any can do this?

And lastly, this is more of settling a bet, houses with standard aerials for rte etc, when will this be turned off by rte ??

    Thanks again for your time.

    1. A combo box will get you the Irish (Saorview) channels + the UK (Freesat) channels

    2. A Sky dish is cheap and comes with a 4 way lnb to run cabling to 4 rooms. But it will likely rust so you can get a 60cm solid dish + universal quad LNB.

    3. A combo box as above... freesat+saorview channels on one box

    4. Once you have a UHF wideband aerial it should be fine.

Their quality varies enormously. I have seen 8 year old dishes that are perfectly sound and 3 year old dishes rusted to hell!!! depends also if you are near the sea..

the newer dishes aren't as good as the old dishes.. but also it depends on the area where you live etc..

Just upgraded to SKY HD today...when the Sky installer went up on the roof to attach the extra cables needed to the LNB....he spotted that the arm holding the LNB to the dish was all rusted...so he replaced the dish for me too...this kinda answers your question of how long you get out of the dish before it rusts....7 years since it went up.
